Overgate Hospice needs your help…
Please could you tell your over 14 students about us? We need lots of volunteers to help in so very many ways. Every day we need to raise £6,800 and we couldn’t do it without the help of individuals, companies, organisations – people like you – helping to raise money for us. Volunteers are a vital part of the organisation and the value placed upon our volunteers is immeasurable.
As well as helping us there are many advantages to your students. In the shops they can learn retail skills – yes we do have fairly modern things like cyber tills and we do sell some of the more expensive or unusual items on auction site such as eBay so there are opportunities for photographing and listing items. We have 13 shops (from Todmorden to Ovenden via Sowerby Bridge and Elland!!) Included among them a specialist baby shop, a designer shop, a vintage shop and furniture shops. There are also opportunities in the hospice for older students, again very varied – from the keen gardeners to budding accountants.
The minimum age for volunteering at the Hospice itself is 16 years of age
whereas the minimum age for volunteering in our shops is 14.
As an ex teacher I could go on to list lots of benefits to the students:-
Communication skills, Taking responsibility, Team work, Great for CV, Duke of Edinburgh
However I won’t do that!!!
Please, please please do tell your students about us and if any of them are interested in helping us (and enjoying themselves while doing it) get them (or you) to get in touch:-
Very many thanks in anticipation of your help telling your students about us.
