This 45 minute Zoom session from our Student Recruitment Team and a UA92 Student Ambassador will give you the tools to help you pick the right course for you.
Applying to University and picking the right course can be worrisome, within this session you’ll be able to hear a students perspective to enable you to make the right choice!

Mini MBA Programme 4 November – 9 December (13:30 – 14:30)

The University of Bradford invites Year 13 students to participate in our Mini MBA programme beginning on 4 November. The Mini MBA has been designed by our Triple Crown Accredited School of Management and is a unique opportunity for students to gain an insight into the innovative developments taking place in business. The Academic Lead is Dr Kamran Mahroof.

The programme begins on Wednesday 4 November (13:30-14:30) and will continue with 1 session/week for the following 5 weeks, with the final session on December 9. Each session will cover a different aspect of business and will include unique academic insights into areas such as Business Analytics, Responsible Management and Digital Marketing.

Our academic webinars provide a fantastic opportunity to help you think about what you might want to study at university and potentially assist you when writing your personal statement for your UCAS application. Please visit our webinars webpage for a full list, covering a diverse range of topics. 

  • 21 October: Business Managers in a Digital Age (3:30-4:30 pm): In an increasingly digital world, the roles and responsibilities of business managers are evolving. This session will cover disruptive technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics and touch upon some of the key skills required for business managers of the future.  You can register HERE
  • 28 October: What keeps you sharp? (3:30-4:30 pm): Have you ever wondered how we measure thinking skills such as memory, attention, and processing speed? How these thinking skills are influenced by age? Join this session for a hands-on experience completing some interesting tasks.   • 4 November: Managing Talent effectively (3:30-4:30 pm): Drawing on research looking at approaches to managing talent in the banking and petroleum sectors in the Middle East, this webinar will discuss what constitutes “best practice in Talent Management” and the issues organisations need to consider when managing and developing talented employees. Post-16 Activity:
·         20 October: Picking the right university and course (4-5 PM): There are lots of degrees to choose from and plenty of places to study, which can make choosing the right university and course a difficult choice. This session will give you some great tips on how to make the right choices and get the most out of Open Days. You can register HERE 
·         22 October: Meet our ambassadors (4-5 PM): This is your chance to meet some of our current students, and find out from them why they chose to study their course at Bradford. They'll be providing a range of top tips - from things that are useful to your current Level 3 study, to transitioning to higher education and making the most out of your time at university. You'll hear about their experiences on moving away for university or staying local and living at home, and there'll be the chance to ask questions. You can register HERE 
·         22 October: Meet our ambassadors (7.30-8.30 PM): This is your chance to meet some of our current students, and find out from them why they chose to study their course at Bradford. They'll be providing a range of top tips - from things that are useful to your current Level 3 study, to transitioning to higher education and making the most out of your time at university. You'll hear about their experiences on moving away for university or staying local and living at home, and there'll be the chance to ask questions. You can register HERE
·         27 October: UCAS Explained (10-11 AM): This webinar is designed to give international students a better understanding of the UCAS application process and will offer a step-by-step guide on how to apply to University using UCAS. The webinar will also briefly cover how to apply directly to the University of Bradford.  You can Register HERE
·         29 October: EU Visa Support (10-11 AM): Following the UK’s departure from the European Union on 31 December 2020 free movement ends for EU/EEA nationals. We will look at the visa requirements from 1 January 2021 and how the changes will impact current and new EU/EEA students.  You can Register HERE
·         03 November: Film and Media (2-3 PM): In collaboration with Unitaster days An introduction to studying Film and Photography at University. Including courses, careers and application tips.  You can Register HERE
·         03 November: Interview skills for health and social work for adult learners (7.30-8.30 PM): This session is for adult learners who've applied to a course that requires an interview - particularly health-related areas and social work. Free Virtual events at Leeds University for potential Medical students – Applications open 17th October 2020 and closes 29th October 2020 at 5pm

We are working hard to transfer all the outreach events online this academic year. WAMS first virtual first Taster Day will be November 7th 2020

Full details are below and also attached please can you circulate to interested students. There will be two more Taster Days on 5th December and another on 6th February – more information to follow, plus specific workshops, e-mentoring, mock interviews, and new for this year a monthly Q&A with a student panel.

Are you interested in a career in medicine?  

WAMS Taster Days offer a combination of workshops including Communication Skills, Ethics, Work Experience, and Basic Life support, together with the opportunity to talk to medical students and the admissions team to gain insight into studying Medicine. There will also be the opportunity to find out more about entry routes and alternatives to Medicine.  

Application Criteria: 

Year 12 (must be at least 16 years of age) 

Priority is given to students from a widening participation background – See criteria

The workshops will be held on Blackboard  Collaborative (full instructions will be supplied). 

Applications open 17th October 2020 and closes 29th October 2020 at 5pm. Successful applicants will be notified by email.

Your online uni buddy – getting you to uni

We’re pleased to invite you to join us for a number of online support sessions to help you through the process of deciding your next steps and applying to university or college for a degree course.

We’ve everything for helping you understand more about choices, how to apply through UCAS and do a winning personal statement, all you need to know about student finance, and an informal discussion and question and answer session. 

We have a virtual open day on Tuesday 20th October at either 1pm or 6pm – join us here

On Wednesday 28th October, between 2-4pm, you can drop into our live chat and question and answer session with any queries you have about your next steps, what courses we offer, or the UCAS process. Join us here

Dive into Accountancy with PwC

There is still time for your students to sign up for Dive into Accountancy with PwC and please see the attached a flyer for this event. It is designed to tell your sixth form students about PwC Accountancy opportunities including the Flying Start Accountancy degree apprenticeship. Students in year 12 and 13 who are interested in a career in Audit / Accountancy and ideally on track for AAB (any subject areas). Please note the universities have a widening participation scheme which means that students who meet certain social mobility criteria may be accepted with lower grades.

This event will take place on Thursday the 22nd of October from 10.00 – 11.30. Please ask any interested students to complete a registration form.

Personal Statement Support

We know that there are always lots of students who benefit from our assistance with personal statements at this time of year (usually in face to face sessions) .To provide the best service to your students  we have set up an online format for this. Spaces are limited and filling up quickly, so it is advisable to book sessions with us as early as you possible can.  We deliver these sessions through our ‘virtual’ classroom but can adapt to deliver through any platform your college uses.

What we can offer to your students

  • Personal Statement Advice Sessions booked for your students at a time/date that is convenient for you
  • 1-1 personal statement assistance – 15-minute timeslots, with up to 3 students accommodated at a time (12 students per hour).

Here at PwC, we’re excited to launch our Virtual Classroom – Digital Upskilling – for October. The sessions will be engaging, interactive and inspiring for students in Years 10 – 13 (or equivalent)

The session schedule is as follows:

Thursday 15 October         Girls in Tech at PwC (celebrating Ada Lovelace Day)

Thursday 22 October         Cyber Security Awareness Month event

Thursday 29 October         Emerging Technologies at PwC

Thursday 29 October         Parents and Teachers Event: Career in tech at PwC

Students will need to pre-register for each session in advance – the link for each session will be sent with the confirmation once they’ve registered for each event. All live sessions will start at 4.30pm and will last for approximately 50 minutes. Register here.

We’ve also got a technology themed Females of the Future event for school students on the 11 November (details here). 

And finally – don’t forget that applications are open for our fully-funded Technology Degree Apprenticeships, which are Computer Science Degrees. Your final year students can apply via UCAS.
